First pool

First time to the pool today and Lucia fell asleep in my arms while I walked her around and her brother played and screamed. This little girl sure is relaxed!

Two families and a road trip

We went to Arden this weekend, Lucia's first overnight, and took the Tangs with us.  Table for 8! Here is a video from our adventures. Lots of fun!

Stroller Envy

I admit it, I'm obsessed. I have spent hours, days even, looking at strollers. I look at them on kijiji, online, in stores, on the street. Today I cured, I hope, what has been a long standing case of stroller envy with this:

What motivated the final plunge? I got a cheque for $500 which I wasn't expecting so that's like free money. At least that's the most prominent justification, I have more if you're interested. With all the accessories (I got the car seat adapter and second seat) the bill was stupidly expensive, but still cheaper than a second car. Although not much. I know I've said it before - I think even on this blog although I couldn't find the post - (a free ride in a super stroller to any one who can find it) but I think I really am cured this time. Rafa is threatening therapy. So we are saying goodbye to our Quinny (it's for sale for $225 if anyone wants it...) and saying hello to Baby Jogger. From now on we're cruising with two!

The development of an artist

On Monday we went to Zellars and bought a bunch of new paper for drawing.. it seems it was inspiring. Here is Tuesday...

Wednesday...

Thursday...
(this picture got uploaded sidewise, this has happened to me several times, does anyone know how to stop it?)
So - we have a preschooler in the house, drawing clearly recognizable figures of people. Today he also almost skipped his nap, this is the less exciting symptom of growing up. I left him to sleep and when I came back 20 minutes later he was feeding 'soup' to his bear. Luckily he's a total suck and so I cuddled up with him in bed and he was out in 5 minutes. We're growing up around here!

Rules for the summer

1. We have to get out of the house everyday.
2. The splash pad is awesome!
3. Library and park are good options.
4. Always carry snack.
5. 11:30 is a good time to head for home, 12:00 is too late.
6. Lunch has to be prepared already or able to be cooked in 5 minutes.
7. It helps to know what  is for dinner early in the day.
8. Do one load of laundry everyday.
9. Nap with the kids when you can.
10. Stay calm.

Life with two is going just fine so far. As long as all day, everyday, the only thing I do is take care of kids. As soon as I take 5 minutes to sew or check e-mail some disaster seems to strike. The day goes by fast with breakfast, adventure, snack, lunch, nap, snack and then Rafa is home. The hard stuff, like not sleeping, is easier this time around because I know it is going to be the last. We're shopping for very reliable birth control. I feel a great deal of satisfaction in knowing that this is us... this is our deal and now we are just going to get bigger, older and hopefully wiser. We are a family of four.. it has a nice ring to it.
